Richard Buckner is going to be playing A LOT of dates this summer. I just wanted to let the community know if they don't check out his website regularly like I do. 'Lil Wallet Picture
Richard Buckner

Underspent and too young too, I stumbled onto a picture of you, you wild, bitter tale, all cherry, oak and tears. As the branches look in, the summer is done. We are too dear. Pull back the drape and let the silent light in. Soon, I'll be on that highway.

Damn this stretch of 99, that takes so many lives. One of 'em was mine.
Hand me that 'lil wallet picture in 1985 one more time.

The lights on the street, when I'd walk to you at night, were so blindly lit; Yeah there were four little flames: his, mine and yours and the torch in the attic.

Damn this stretch of 99, that takes so many lives. One of 'em was mine.
Hand me that 'lil wallet picture in 1985 one more time.

I woke up late and kissed you away as you packed up your load. There was one last look and the UHaul broke free. Now, the ditches are flooded over the backroad.

Damn this stretch of 99, that takes so many lives. One of 'em was mine.
Hand me that 'lil wallet picture in 1985 one more time.

I have just discovered Richard Buckner. its painful how good he is. The Hill has been on repeat for 2 weeks now. It's rare for anything to make me feel as this album has. I am slowly beginning to listen to Bloomed. Richard Buckner lived in the middle of the Canadian Prairies where I am living and I did not know about him until he left. The opportunities I missed are heart breaking. So i am wondering what are some favorite Buckner songs you all may have? And is there anything else that might move me as he has? (others that have are Will Oldham and Leonard Cohen.)

Richard Buckner - December 30th, 2003 in Somerville, MA
Hey there guys. Not a big community but I thought I would share some photos (and video if you follow the link) of Richard's show earlier this week in Boston. To the person who mentioned the Davey's Uptown shows -- I'm sure I was there as well as I used to live in KC. Check the site for photos from those shows. Anyway I posted this to bandphototrade earlier this week but here they are in here:

Hey, a Richard Buckner community! Rock.

Buck doesn't like to come to Colorado much. I drove to Kansas City to see him at Davey's a few years back and it was a spectacular show. Just Buckner and his guitars. He finally got to Denver (for the first time in about five years, I think) last winter--even more stripped down--just two acoustics and I was amazed again, though he was pretty ripped and the bar left the TV on the whole time. He gets better with every album--I'm looking forward to both new releases this fall.

I saw Richard live at 2001's Bumbershoot in Seattle, where he staged what was essentially an extended rant against the recording industry interspersed with songs here and there. I remember him saying something like, "I'll record another album as soon as I can find a trustworthy person in the music industry, which should be in about 10,000 years." The fact that such a brilliant artist is reduced to such a view of an industry which should be thanking him and kissing his feet on a daily basis says a great deal about the state of the commercial recording climate right now. Dross. It distresses me greatly, because to say that I've been waiting in stark anticipation for his next release would be a gross understatement. Bloomed, Devotion + Doubt, Since and The Hill are arguably the four touchstones of my music collection. Country-dread, hear my cry! Come back to us, team up with Escovedo, do whatever! Just put out another record! And come to my home-town!
